Usage Instructions:
Prior to application mix well by shaking the bottle. Do not use together with desinfectants or chemicals. Before application, we recommend to test if the product does not have any undesired effect on the cleaned surface. Mechanically remove visible dirt and abundantly wet the stain/odour place with water.
Carpet, Upholstered furniture, Drapery, Car seats, Clothing:
Apply product abundantly onto the soiled surface and cover it up with a damp cloth (to slow drying). After drying, clean the surface with vacuum cleaner or rub over with a damp cloth. If necessary, repeat this procedure.
Shoes:
Apply product abundantly onto the malodorous surface and cover it up with a damp cloth (to slow drying). After drying, clean the surface with vacuum cleaner or rub over with a damp cloth. If necessary, repeat this procedure.
Odour in animal bedding, baskets, portable bags ...:
Wash water non-absorbent surfaces (without chemical means). Then apply product onto the malodorous surface and leave to dry. If necessary, repeat this procedure.
The smell of cigarette smoke in vehicles:
Wash water non-absorbent surfaces (without chemical means). Then apply solution (1 part of product and 5-10 parts of tepid water) onto all surfaces (upholstered car seats included) and leave to dry. If necessary, repeat this procedure.
Cigarette smoke and other smells in rooms:
Wash water non-absorbent surfaces (without chemical means). Then apply solution (1 part product and 10-40 parts tepid water) onto all surfaces (walls included) and leave to dry. If necessary, repeat this procedure. Spray the solution also into the air of the smelly room.
Urine stain and malodour around urinals, WC, portable toilets, marine toilets:
Apply product abundantly onto the soiled surface and scrub with brush. Leave it completely to dry. Repeat this procedure regulary.
Waste bins malodour:
Apply solution (1 part product and 4 parts tepid water) into the waste bin any time malodour appears and leave to act.

The microorganisms in the range of biological products work on a process called competitive exclusion. Bacterial Digestion of Malodours - Odour Counteractant Technology.
The number one problem in bathrooms, locker rooms, …. is odour. A foul-smelling bathroom gives the customer a perception of uncleanliness. This perception often travels behind the bathroom to give an impression that the entire establishment is not clean.
Offensive odours such as urine, excrements, vomit, and those emanating from garbage, are composed of many organic compounds that contribute to the overall odour intensity. Treating organic waste with our scientifically selected, non-pathogenic bacterial strains is an environmentally responsible method of accelerating the biodegradation process of malodorous compounds.
To combat these odour generating compounds, and reduce them in the environment, we have in our odour reducing range of products incorporated powerful beneficial, multiple enzyme producing microorganisms, strains that rapidly digest odour producing organic waste.
Urine is often the source of malodours on tile, grout, toilets, and other hard surfaces. Urea is the primary constituent of urine. Many bacteria that are naturally present of hard surfaces produce an enzyme called urease. Urease converts urea into carbon dioxide (CO2) and ammonia (NH3), Figure 1. This process releases ammonia into the atmosphere producing a bad odour. To reduce the odours, one must reduce, or eliminate, the ammonia.

With this background information, our scientists set out to develop a biologically based product to degrade urea and utilize the liberated ammonia. The first step in the development of the product was to choose the most performing bacterial strains regarding their ability to degrade urea (superior urease producers).
Having identified bacteria that can degrade urea, a study was performed to test the ability of the most promising urease producers to utilize ammonia. An increase in growth is indicative of the ability to utilize ammonia. As demonstrated in Figure 2, several of the chosen bacteria strains have the ability to utilize ammonia.

The studies described above yielded a set of bacterial strains that are superior urease producers and have the ability to utilize ammonia as a nitrogen source for cell growth. The breakdown of urine by these bacterial strains is shown in Figure 3. By consuming the ammonia liberated by the urease enzyme, these strains greatly reduce the odours associated with urine found on tile, grout, toilets, and other hard surfaces.

Another common source of malodours is volatile fatty acids. The researchers developed a screening method to quickly test the ability of
various bacterial strains to degrade these odour-causing compounds. As shown in Figure 4, the strains of bacteria in our odour reducing range of products have the ability to digest a variety of volatile organic acids associated with malodours. The result of which is a reduction of malodours released into the atmosphere.

Case Study Nr.2:
Microbial Treatment of Odors in Carpet
Historically, when dealing with pet or human waste on carpet, people were required to manually clean the soiled area. This involved scrubbing with a chemical cleaner and wiping up the residual moisture. The result was a stain that appeared to be gone, but still smelled like urine, because residual urine was left in the carpet and pad. Strong perfumes in the cleaning product might temporarily cover up the odour, but after the perfume dissipated, the urine smell would still be present. And even worse, when the temperature or humidity was high or the carpet was moistened by a spill; the smell from the soiled area was reactivated, causing a strong ammonia odour. Many times, carpet and pad had to be removed and replaced to eliminate the smell from a residual stain or stains.
With these problems in mind, our scientists developed a product that would eliminate odours by biologically removing residual organic waste. The biological removal of the organic waste is accomplished by the application of non-odour-causing bacteria which, when applied, utilize the organic waste (in this study urea, the major component of urine) for growth and consume residual organic waste not removed from the carpet or pad.
Experimental Design and Rationale
An experiment was initiated to test the effectiveness of the biological product at removing stains and odours from carpet and pad. A protocol developed by our scientists in conjunction with a leading carpet care company was used for the study. Cat urine was used to saturate the carpet and pad. After 24 hours, our biological product was added to the dry stain and bacterial growth was monitored over time. Odour reduction was determined in a panel test in which over 70 people rated the degree of odour removal. The numbers of bacteria were monitored using standard microbiological techniques. The bacteria in our biological product enzymatically digest cat urine. The digested cat urine is then consumed by the bacteria for growth. Therefore, an increase in the bacterial population is an indicator that the bacteria are digesting the urine.
Results
The data are shown graphically in Figure 1. As Figure 1 demonstrates, within 24 hours of application of our bacteria to the carpet with a cat urine stain, the number of bacteria in the carpet increased from 30 million to 300 million. The same result can be seen in the carpet pad, where within 48 hours, the population increased to over 100 million bacteria. Only a small portion of bacteria (37-55%) that are applied to the carpet are readily recoverable. This is not uncommon as bacteria can bind tightly to the carpet and pad. With this in mind, the number of bacteria shown in Figure 1 would be greater if all of the bacteria could be recovered. All recovered or not, there are billions of bacteria working on eliminating the source of the odour.

Results
The results in this experiment are consistent with the accepted literature stating that our bacteria in our product Stain+Odour Eliminator can utilize urea as a growth substrate by the production of an enzyme called urease. These results also demonstrate the large number of viable bacteria that our product produces. A test panel of 73 people agreed that our bacteria significantly reduced or eliminated odour in a treated sample, as compared to an untreated sample.
